Lika Banshoya (France)

Biography: A graduate of the Iris Center for Photography (Paris) in 2008, Lika Banshoya has been practicing photography for 10 years. She uses portraiture and documentary-style photography to better understand human nature and the world around her. Her artistic research manifests itself as a personal journey of self-discovery, evident in her 2013 series Oneiroi, a series of dreamlike portraits exhibited in several Parisian galleries and featured in Slate Magazine. On her latest stride on this journey is a series of nightscape photographs presented in her exhibition at artéfact project space, titled Les arbres se parlent tout bas (Victor Hugo, Nuit). Inspired by the pictorialist movement and expressionist film, this body of work takes the viewer on a journey through blurry memories of fear and old dreams of undefined darkness. Banshoya is currently living and working in Paris.
